Data, data, data. It’s everywhere and it’s important. In this new digital age we live in, data is on the front line, and only continues to grow. Adrian Bridgwater of Forbes, classifies and groups these different types of data into 13 categories.
Number 1? Big data.
Coming as no surprise to those in the healthcare IT industry, big data is big news. This data is comprised of huge (big) amounts of data created by human and machine-generated processes. This data contributes to things like machine learning and artificial intelligence. Not to mention, analyzing this data can help us to figure out why things happen and harness the power of predictive analytics.
Second on the list is structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. Followed by time-stamped data, machine data, spatiotemporal data, open data, etc. Who knew there were so many different types of data?
